Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Palliative Care

Willamette Valley Hospice has been helping patients and their families through one of the most difficult times of their lives for over 40 years. The comfort, compassion, teaching, and empowerment you provide as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) can help palliative and hospice patients and their families make the most of their time left together. Our LPN’s provide professional nursing services to palliative care and hospice care patients as indicated by the plan of care developed by the interdisciplinary team.

We are currently looking for a full-time LPN to work on our Home-Based Palliative Care team. This position requires a flexible availability that includes weekdays and weekends.


  • Provides direct nursing care as indicated by the plan of care under the supervision of Palliative Care RN, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician
  • Participates in the planning and coordination of patient care
  • Administers prescribed meds according to law as permitted within the scope of individual license
  • Provides physical and emotional support to the patient/family living with serious illness
  • Demonstrates respect and caring and maintains patient and staff confidentiality
  • Documents according to established agency guidelines and nursing practice standards
  • Educates family or caregivers in caring for the patient as directed


  • Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing required.
  • Current Oregon Licensed Practical Nurse license required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Must have current Oregon driver’s license, dependable personal transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • One year of home-based palliative care, hospice or home health nursing experience preferred.
  • Must possess good clinical nursing skills and be able to utilize problem-solving teachings.
  • Ability to record and maintain patient data using an electronic record keeping system (EMR).
  • Ability to function in high stress situations and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to regularly walk bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, grasp, reach, handle, and lift up to 50lbs without assistance.
