Volunteer Training

Upcoming Volunteer Training Session:

Friday January 25, 2019, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

Contact our Volunteer Coordinators at 503.588.3600
Depending on volunteer role you will fill, training may include one full day of training with some reading and online instruction at home or simply one partial-day of training. Contact Volunteer Services for more detailed information.

Please call our volunteer coordinators to set up your interview before attending a training. No experience is required to become a volunteer. The comprehensive training at Willamette Valley Hospice will equip new volunteers with the tools you will need to feel confident in working with hospice patients and their families. The amount of training required for a volunteer depends on the role they wish to fill.

For more information on volunteer requirements and to set up an interview, contact a volunteer coordinator at volunteerservices@wvh.org or 503.588.3600.

Volunteers must be respectful of all people, responsible, and be willing to learn. Volunteers will have reference checks, a background check, as well as a drug test. If a volunter will be helping in patient’s homes, a free TB test is needed, too. Continuing education and fun activities are offered year round to volunteers.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application before your interview. For those wishing to volunteer at the Tokarski Home, a specific Tokarski Home volunteer application is required, due to state regulations.

“Hospice is hopeful. I feel like I learn something from every single person and family that I serve.”
