Our Mission

The mission of
Willamette Valley Hospice is to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill persons and their families, to provide bereavement support for the caregivers and families of our patients and members of the community, and to educate the community about the hospice philosophy and programs.

These hospice resources are designed to help provide better understanding about hospice care services and related resources of interest and support. They do not intend to offer specific medical advice. Individuals are urged to consult with their health care providers for diagnosis and treatment and for personal health care questions.

Children’s Hospice International (www.chionline.org) - This organization recognizes the right and need for children and their families to choose health care and support whether in their own home, hospital, or hospice care facility.

Initiative for Pediatric Palliative Care (www.ippcweb.org)  - The Initiative for Pediatric Palliative Care (IPPC) is both an education and a quality improvement effort, aimed at enhancing family-centered care for children living with life-threatening conditions.

DyingWell.org (www.dyingwell.org) - This web site provides written resources and information from Dr. Ira Byock, long time palliative care physician and advocate for improved end-of-life care.

National Kidney Cancer Association (www.CureKidneyCancer.org) - An organization of patients, families, doctors and healthcare professionals involved with kidney cancer.

National Children’s Cancer Society (www.NationalChildrensCancerSociety.com) – Organization that helps children with cancer through our nationwide programs and services.

American Lung Cancer (http://www.lungusa.org) - Offers information on lung disease in all its forms.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (http://www.komen.org) - Offers information, resources and additional links on breast cancer.

Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (www.acpe.edu) - A professional organization representing many different faith and cultural traditions. Committed to advancing theological education in any setting where ministry is being practiced.

American Association of Pastoral Counselors (www.aapc.org) - Provides theological, spiritual, ethical, and clinical counseling. Also provides information on locating a clinical counselor near you.

George Washington University Institute for Spirituality and Health (www.gwish.org) - University based organization working to provide a more compassionate system of health care. Focus is on educational and clinical issues related to spirituality and health. Founder and director is Christina M. Puchalski, MD. Dr. Puchalski has published on spirituality and health care in journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Palliative Medicine, and Clinics in geriatric Medicine.

National Association of Catholic Chaplains (www.nacc.org) - Professional organization for certified chaplains ad clinical pastoral educators who participate in the healing mission of Jesus Christ. Provides standards, advocacy, education, and professional development.

National Association of Jewish Chaplains (www.najc.org) - Professional organization for Rabbis, Cantors, and other Jewish professional functioning as chaplains. Provides services and resources to the Jewish community and general community on issues of pastoral and spiritual care based on Jewish traditions and services.
