The mission of
Willamette Valley Hospice is to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill persons and their families, to provide bereavement support for the caregivers and families of our patients and members of the community, and to educate the community about the hospice philosophy and programs.

How does grief feel?

Each person's experience of grief is unique and individual. Below is a list of some common emotional, physical, spiritual and social indicators of grief.

  • Feeling empty or numb
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Sadness
  • Shock or disbelief
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Dry mouth
  • Unusual dreams
  • Feelings of guilt
  • Anger
  • Confusion
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Anxiety
  • Thoughts about the deceased loved one
  • Withdrawal from others

If you are finding you are unable to function in your daily life by managing these indicators of grief and the intensity of the symptom(s) has increased over time please consider seeking help and support.
